The existing practice has recently been changed by the Act No. 111/2019 Coll. Amending some laws in relation to the adoption of the Act on Personal Data Processing. Until now, it was necessary to appeal to a court, if authorities refused to grant the requested information.
The mentioned amendment has also affected the Free Access to Information Act. Consequently, the competence of the Office for Personal Data Protection expanded. The office will primarily assess instigations to conduct review proceedings, will adopt measures against the superior bodies´ failure to act and last but not least will act as the superior body for prescribed entities.
