4th Activity Report of the Europol Joint Supervisory Body

More effective and efficient joint supervision by the national data protection authorities and the Europol Joint Supervisory Body.

This is the message in the fourth activity report, in which the Joint Supervisory Body of Europol (JSB) presents 10 years of data protection supervision of the European Police Office: Europol.

The report is not limited to Europol but also covers the law enforcement activities of its stakeholders: the European Member States. The JSB concludes that there is an increasing need to explore whether practices and procedures governing data quality at national level meet the Europol standards.

In the fight against serious and international crime and the increasing amount of legal instruments on European Union level in this area mutual trust and comprehensive and conscious assumption of the responsibilities of all stakeholders is necessary. In order to monitor and supervise this process a common data protection answer is needed.
