The objective of EURODAC is to establish a system for comparing fingerprints of asylum seekers and some categories of illegal immigrants. In order to manage technical aspects of the large-scaled information systems like SIS II, VIS and EURODAC, the European Agency for the operational management of large-scale IT-systems (eu-LISA) has been created. The core task of the Agency is to keep the IT systems under its responsibility functioning 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring the continuous, uninterrupted exchange of data between national authorities. The Agency is also be responsible for adopting and implementing security measures, organizing training for IT experts on the systems under its management, reporting, publishing statistics and monitoring research activities. The Agency needs to maintain the complete separation of data in the three systems and ensure that security and data protection requirements are fully met.
